Breathwork

Breathwork is the intentional control and manipulation of your breathing pattern to shift your mental, emotional, and physical state. While the human body breathes automatically, conscious breathwork uses the lungs as a direct steering wheel for the autonomic nervous system.

The Science of the Breath
Carbon Dioxide Regulation: Altering the speed and depth of your breath changes blood CO2 levels. This shifts your blood pH, expanding or contracting blood vessels to change oxygen delivery to the brain and muscles. Vagal Nerve Stimulation: Slow, deep diaphragmatic breathing activates the vagus nerve. This instantly signals the brain to lower heart rate and reduce cortisol.

Transient Hypofrontality: Fast, continuous breathing styles temporarily down-regulate the prefrontal cortex (the brain's analytical, worrying center). This allows buried emotional baggage and somatic tension to surface and clear.
